How I Built My Gym Habit: 5 Tips from 20 somethings to now a mom of 2!
Tip tips on how I built my gym habit over the last 15 years. From 20 somethings to now a mom of 2!
Tip 1: Choose an Affordable Gym
When I reflect on how I started my gym habit, I realize that having access to a free or affordable gym membership was crucial. Starting with a gym that doesn’t break the bank can alleviate the pressure and self-judgment if you miss a session.
Tip 2: Leave the House
To build a consistent workout habit, it’s essential to get out of the house. Home workouts can be challenging to stick to, so find a gym or outdoor space that motivates you to show up consistently. Whether it’s a local gym or a park with workout equipment, find a place that gets you moving.
Tip 3: Schedule Your Workouts
Slotting your workouts into your schedule is non-negotiable. Whether it’s before or after work, during lunchtime, or even midday, find a time that works for you and stick to it. Treat your workouts as appointments that you can’t miss.
Tip 4: Utilize Breaks and Lunchtime
If your schedule allows, consider working out during breaks or lunchtime. I found success in going to a boxing gym during my lunch break, which aligned well with my fasting routine and kept me consistent.
Tip 5: Find a Training App or Class You Love
Consider using a workout app or attending classes that you enjoy. Building rapport with fellow participants and having a supportive community can make a significant difference in staying motivated. If classes aren’t your thing, explore workout apps that offer personalized training programs.
By implementing these tips, I’ve been able to establish a consistent gym habit that feels like second nature. Remember to prioritize your health and fitness goals and find strategies that work for your lifestyle. With dedication and persistence, you can achieve your fitness aspirations and make exercise a lifelong habit.
