Fasting To 40: Scheduling Can Give You Peace.

Happy day 2, to myself, on my journey to fasting to 40!

Since I’m a visual learner, I took out my 2023 calendar I bought a year ago.

You’re probably asking, why did you by a 2023 calendar a year ago, Amber?

Well, let me tell you. I came to realize that my 2023 planner started in July 2023 and not January.

Anywho, I dusted the planner off and got to work scheduling my September fasting plan by day for the next 30 days.

First, I wrote in work travel, birthday parties, and any other event I knew could get in my way of fasting.

Based on events, I then wrote in my fasting times around those events. As you may recall from yesterday’s post they go as follows:

  • 19:5 = Daily
  • 36 hours = Weekly
  • 72 hours = Monthly
  • 120 hours or 5 days = Quarterly

I knew I wanted to hit September with a bang, so I planned both of my extended fasts in September for this quarter.

Oh and remember, I’m breaking my fasting into a business timeline of day, week, month, and quarter. I know not many moms talk about their life in quarters but that’s the corporate mom coming out.

The second week of September, I wrote in my 3-day; and the last week of September has my 5-day scheduled.

I mean it when I say I want to hit September with a fasting BANG!

I travel on September 18th and 19th for work. So here is my plan of attack if you’re curious how I plan around events.

I have a work dinner on September 18th. Dinner starts at about 6 pm. This is where the foresight and planning will come in and pay off.

Keeping to my 19:5 fasting schedule on the 18th; I plan on grabbing some hard-boiled eggs and a small salad at the airport when I land; eating them at 5 pm.

I know exactly what I’m looking for when I land. This takes the guesswork out, along with any temptation to grab a Starbucks lemon loaf instead.

Being that I won’t be breaking my fast at my normal 2 pm; when I land, I’ll have been fasting for 21-22 hours.

I’ll have a solid base in my stomach of protein and fiber to start the dinner off with so I don’t overeat.

Trust me, when you’re given access to a nice restaurant and on a company credit card, in a completely fasted state, even the most disciplined will crack.

Going into meeting day on the 19th. I know my meeting starts at 11 am and we have lunch after. So for the 19th, I have scheduled a 16:8 fast.

I don’t want to be too rigid and stress myself out with eating start and stop times.

Maybe my coworker will want to grab breakfast the morning before our meeting. Maybe we’ll grab dinner together before we fly home at the airport.

It’s all good. I have an 8-hour eating window planned. This takes any stress or pressure off, especially the social pressure and any questions of, “Why aren’t you eating”.

This is the flexibility and logic I use to live my life. I do not let narrow-focused fasting control me. I control my fasting schedule.

Because we all know that birthday parties, soccer games, restaurant plans, and any other event are the spice of life!

I’m living my life with intention and nothing but good can come out of that.

Happy planning!
