The first step in planning my March fasts is to take a look at my calendar and identify any upcoming events or travel plans. By marking these on my fasting schedule, I can ensure that my fasting routine aligns with my commitments and I’m prepared for any challenges that may arise.
Step 2: Tailoring Fasting Length to Your Cycle
Next, I refer to my trusty fasting cheat sheet, which outlines the different phases of the menstrual cycle and how they can impact fasting. For example, on March 1st, I’m on day 12 of my cycle, which Dr. Mindy identifies as the manifestation stage. This is when fasting tends to be most effective, so I adjust my fasting length accordingly.
Step 3: Planning with Color Coding
I use a color-coded system to map out my fasting schedule, with green indicating the phases of my cycle and red highlighting potential obstacles to fasting. This visual approach helps me see at a glance when I should prioritize longer fasts or adjust my fasting routine to accommodate other commitments.
Step 4: Prioritizing Longer Fasts
I start by scheduling my longer fasts first, such as 72-hour fasts or extended fasting periods. Once these are in place, I fill in the gaps with shorter fasting windows, like 16:8 or 19:5, based on my energy levels and nutritional needs.
